Here's a possibly pointless thread where you can talk about anything, doesn't matter what, as long as it's happening right now.

Right now migraines suck.

Amazingly, I also have a migraine right now. Now I have someone to blame, though.

Ever had this happen whenever you've tried to upgrade your city's public transport system?

Quote:
The Auckland Council's Maori Statutory Board has issued a warning about the taniwha which lives in an ancient creek running past the Town Hall and down Queen St, the New Zealand Herald reports.

Board member Glen Wilcox asked Auckland's transport committee to give consideration to the taniwha, which the Ngati Whatua iwi call Horotiu, as it plans the $2.6 billion tunnel project.

This is not the first time the presence of a taniwha has impacted a public works project.

Part of the Waikato Expressway was rerouted in 2002 after a one-eyed taniwha called Karu Tahi stopped work on the road.

A taniwha in Maori mythology is often depicted as a kind of water dragon, a kind of spiritual guardian or mauri (life force or essence of a place) at best or a malevolent mystic force at worst. They are often regarded as tapu (sacred), so you can see the implications. Yeah, it sounds insane to have to deal with this sort of thing in today's world, but hey. It's their folklore. Versus badly needed public transport upgrades. Hoooooo, I'm starting to get a migrane as well. o_o

Right now I am, believe it or not, actually sitting and watching FMA all the way through from the beginning, and for the first time.

I've had the DVDs for a couple years, but I've never taken the time to actually sit down and watch them all until now. It's been quite a few years since I've spent the whole night watching anime!

On day four of my eleven-day vacation; little sister and I are presently halting the Gauntlet: Dark Legacy run of the past three days to watch anime. So far we've seen Castle of Cagliostro and are two episodes into Gunbuster.

Shame you're watching the inferior series then. Brotherhood is so much better. Tho I guess its better to get the original viewed first.

Really? From what I've seen of Brotherhood on TV, I've kind of had the opposite impression...but I guess that's a whole other topic!

Well, considering its the true manga story, no filler, yeah, I think its better. You also really can't jusdge it by random eps, FMA is really a show you have to watch start to finish.

Recently I've been going thru Torchwood again, in anticipation of the new season starting in July. Also been enjoying Game of Thrones and Camelot.

I can really only imagine you eating bran muffins washed down with a glass of orange juice.

Freezing cold here because of one hell of a polar blast. It's snowed up in Auckland for the first time since 1939, and most of the country is totally blanketed. Christchurch is dealing with subzero temperatures, gale force winds, more snow and infrastructure is still weak from the earthquakes.

A fair bet, the US is one of the few countries that still uses the Fahrenheit scale with regularity.

For reference (because dang it, I made those superscript BBCode tags so they could be used :-P ), subzero in Celsius is below 32o in Fahrenheit. While subzero in Fahrenheit is below....about -17.78o in Celsius.

Fahrenheit?! Good grief, that was fashionable in about 1809.

But yeah, what's normal for the continental USA isn't normal for a more maritime country like NZ. This is a one in 50 year event. It's awesome, provided you aren't in Christchurch.
