So I saw The Avengers today, and can only say that it ties together the stories and protagonists of previous Marvel superhero films like Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America in the most brilliantly potent of ways, and now stands equal to The Dark Knight as my favourite superhero film of all time.

I just found out that IMDb has release dates (learn something new every day); seems Australia's release date was today.

The Avengers have been released in New Zealand, Taiwan and the Phillipines around the same time as Australia on 25 April, while Americans won't get to see it until 4 May. By then, the rest of the world would surely have seen it before you guys.

Were I not so dead set on seeing it on a big screen first, I could probably download a decent quality copy already. :P

You kidding? With the Kiwi's you wouldn't be able to see the screen for the sheep, and with us Aussies you wouldn't be able to see it for us assholes.

You are definitely doing yourself a massive disservice if you don't see The Avengers on the big screen. I had to see it in 3D and even though I hate 3D it was still awesome. :D

Am I the only one who finds the irony of this perplexing? o_o

South East Asia including Australia and New Zealand isn't 'the rest of the world'?

No, I meant that the Avengers movie is opening in southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand almost two weeks before it opens in America.

Where the Avengers comics, characters and concept, um, originated. o_o

Oh, believe me, I have no intention of downloading. I'm pretty damned excited for this flick!

Just got home, and damn. This movie totally blew away my wildest expectations, and my expectations were not low.

I must confess that I did have my doubts about Joss Whedon as director/writer, but he took what was always planned and expected to be the culmination of all the recent big-name Marvel movies, and he pulled it off beautifully.

Truly awe-inspiring, and other kinds of inspiring too. :rbg:

I went a second time yesterday, and I noticed that Ashley "Terra" Johnson has a cameo appearance toward the end.

She's the waitress who says "Captain America saved my life!"

So, that was cool.

Ahhh, I was thinking she was some woman who was to become involved with Cap.

This movie is awesome. This is the first time I've done multiple viewings after the movie Titanic way back 1997. Almost all of my friend who have seen it have also watched it multiple times. I think "the Avengers" will benefit for at least few more weeks at number 1 in the box office.

Shame it was #3 this past weekend, behind Snow White and MIB3. Still pulled a strong 20+ million, which is pretty huge for having been out for over a month now in the US!

I think I'll add that Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow inspired a lot more in me that just awe. :P

And three months later, even? :P

Kidding aside, I have to admit that her performance in the movie was actually a lot better than I'd expected it to be.
