F&J have always been an underrated band, I think.

This band needs more recognition. All their songs are about military history, of many nations. They're Swedish and amazing live.

Huh, well that's certainly a remarkable concept. I do have to say the music didn't quite fit the subject matter very well, at least in my opinion, and the singer is kind of hilariously cheesy (his appearance, not his vocals :P ).

Still, awesome concept.

The little bit of cheese is actually part of what I love. He was great live and put on a great show. I'm really starting to like them a lot.

I really enjoy the music from 1-10, 12 and 14. I'd like to see a HD remake of 9.
Oh I agree (of the ones I've actually heard/played (the original, and VI-X)). But with IX, I think you can pick something at random and have an idea of what you're getting. VIII is my favorite of the series (again of the ones I've actually played), but the music tends to...go all over the place. For example:

Such a good game... I really should finish it. <_<;
I know what you mean; not having a PS2 of my own prevented me from finishing FFX....(Also, yes, you should :P )

Yeah... all the unfinished FF games are on my list to play sooner than later. IV is still my favorite, musically and game wise. The PSP version was by far its finest release.

I approve very much of the hide. :D Supposedly X Japan is actually releasing a new album next spring, right before they play Wembley.

Also, this video is new, from one of my favorite bands, and a great cover.:

Nonus Aequilibrium
by Emperor

There are certain bands whose musical accomplishments are such that they are able to elevate an entire genre of music, or even gain for it a perception of legitimacy it had not been previously afforded. For example, while they were not its earliest pioneers, I don't think there can be any question that X was the band who really legitimized Japan's visual-kei genre.

This principle is particularly true in the area of metal and all its various sub-genres, as well as other more "extreme" forms of music, which have always had to fight for recognition. While I will always maintain that it was Black Sabbath who created heavy metal as it exists today, I think a very strong argument can be made that it was actually Metallica who truly legitimized metal, and specifically thrash metal, in the eyes of many. Much more recently, if there is a single band who could be said to have finally legitimized death metal in the eyes of those same people, it would be Opeth.

And though it is widely acknowledged that the very first Norwegian black metal band was Mayhem, I believe the band who truly legitimized black metal as a genre was Emperor. And I would cite this track as a prime example of exactly why that was.

Music taken from The Second Dream, the latest update for Warframe. I don't think I've ever been more impressed by any narrative twist before this: except possibly the truths ME2 unveiled about both the Reapers and Collectors. DE's writers won a superb success in this regard, because they did not try to impress with a shock reveal. Instead, they went with something that not only fit the lore, but that has been foreshadowed probably about a dozen times prior to the reveal. And, they matched the narrative of this reveal perfectly with gameplay mechanics. Brilliant. Was also nice to see this music played in their livestream as a tribute to a fan who had struggled with chronic depression, and recently passed away.

EDIT: this track is so evocative that I've easily listened to it over 50 times so far, and that's an underestimate for sure.
