So now they're Zerg, basically, huh? Well hell, why don't they just go all the way and...

And by Zerg, you mean Tyranids, right? Blizzard completey ripped off the Zerg from Warhammer 40K, lol.

EDIT: I suppose I should say there's some minor spoilers regarding you, the Commander, in there. And for a few other things, too. Minor as in you're going to see this immediately upon starting the game: just, we're nowhere near starting a playthrough ourselves.

Is there anything resembling a release date for this yet?

Hot damn. This looks better than I ever imagined possible.

A few gamers managed to get exclusive previews to XCOM 2, which are now available on Youtube. My personal favourite is Beaglerush's walkthrough of two missions: one to grab intelligence, another to break into a creepy ADVENT blacksite.

And the commentary? Priceless.

For me, that was yesterday. And it sucked. Holy fuck, it SUCKED. My computer isn't nearly good enough to play the game, I'll have to get a new computer.

I probably won't be able to afford it for at least another month or two. :(

On the other hand, I don't think I've played a PC game since I got my One, so I'm kinda still preoccupied with that anyway. :geek:

So, I've been looking up XCOM 2's requirements, and I've received quite a nasty shock. Not only is the game too much for my computer, it's too much for pretty much any computer on the market here aside from some really high-end, expensive models, and even they barely match the minimum requirements. We're talking the $2500 - $3000 range. That's so far beyond my means, it's just crushing.

What are the requirements?

I have no idea where you are getting that from, here's the base reqs:

OS: Windows® 7, 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 2.6 GHz or AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core 2.6 GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5770, 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 or better
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 45 GB available space

I have a computer that's 6.5 years old that bests those requirements.... My current video card is several years old and a few generations behind and I'm running at max settings. This game seriously has really low requirements. They don't even require i-generation processors, and those came out in 2008. The recommended graphics card in an AMD Radeon 7970 which released January 9, 2012.

The main problem is the processor. My current computer has it built directly into the motherboard, so I can't replace it, therefore I need a new computer to play the game. All the computers I've looked at that do have the kind of processing power needed for the game are very pricey.

ANY computer you can buy these days has the processor requirement beat. The chips that are required for this are like a decade old, seriously. You should be able to get a motherboard, processor and RAM that can handle this game for maybe US $350. Especially if you have the video card handled. Just saying man, you really don't need an expensive, beefy computer to run this game.

That said, I do hope you're able to get something to get to playing.

This is why learning to build your own PC is an extremely worthwhile endeavor. ;)

So...any hands-on reports from those who do have the game?

So far so good. Some nice improvements, a few bugs(long-ass loading times). Definitely harder. I'm well on my way to losing my first campaign.
