I just got my first custom PC ever, so I thought it'd be nice for us all to share and compare, if only for the sake of our egos.

I'm running:

Coolermaster HAF X case
Antex 1200 Watt PSU
8GB Kingston Hyper X RAM
AMD 6970 GPU
Intel i7 2600K CPU
Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler
Pioneer Blu-Ray read/write
Samsung BX2450 24" LED Monitor
1TB Western Digital Caviar Black HDD
Razer Blackwidow Keyboard
Coolermaster Storm Sentinel Z3R0-G Gaming Mouse

The coolest part of this machine, aside from a mouse that looks like the love child of a Cylon Raider and Kane's Temple Prime, is the fact that it runs Starcraft 2 at Ultra High without blinking, at 1920x1080. I think it'd run any current game at 1920x1080 without a second thought, actually. Anyway, Cylor and I have been talking about starting a topic like this for a while, so I thought that I would go ahead and just start it. I'll post some nice photos up soon, showcasing my awesome 200mm Red LED megaflow fans and blood red NZXT LED lighting.

:D

I've got two semi-terrible photos. Someone changed the exposure settings on mum's camera and I can't figure out how to get them working.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I've got an Asus P8Z68-V PRO Socket 1155 Intel Z68 motherboard.

Damn. Gotta admit, that is an impressive looking setup.

Oh right, my specs...

Corsair 750w PSU
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ @ 2.61 GHz
3GB Crucial DDR2(?) RAM (I don't remember exactly what type of memory it is.)
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+ w/ 512MB GDDR3
23" LG Flatron W2353 LCD monitor
160GB Western Digital HDD [C:]
500GB Seagate HDD [D:]
Samsung Writemaster 48x DVD-RW [E:]
Lite-On 52x CD-RW [F:]
Elements Smart Office keyboard
Logitech MX620 cordless laser mouse

Yeah, been a couple years since I've upgraded anything.

My stats will look pathetic in about two years if I don't upgrade. Gotta get into reviewing PC parts so that we can get samples sent to us.

Ok, now that I have time:

Intel i7 920 2.67 GHz
6 GB DDR3
ATI Radeon HD5870 w/1GB GDDR5
LG BluRay Burner
Samsung B2430HD 24" Monitor w/TV Tuner
3 HDDs totaling 2.25 TB(a 750, 500 and a 1TB)
Logitech g510 Keyboard
Logitech G5 Mouse

I think that about covers it. I honestly don't remember what my PSU is, I built thing years ago, and I also hate my case, so I will not be taking a pic of it. :)

Been a long time since I had a built-from-scratch custom PC, the last time I had a major meltdown (primary IDE on the motherboard went bad if I recall), I didn't have the time to mess with it and got a premade PC. That said....

Pentium 4 3.2GHz (dual CPUs)
3GB DDR2 RAM
Intel 910GL Express (onboard video; in what may be worthy of penning a lament, my actual video card died a few months ago and I have been too broke/cheap to replace it  )
Dell E190S 19" Flat Panel Monitor
2 HDDs, one 71GB and one 1.8TB (While advertised as 2TB that was in "engineer's" terabytes, using scaling by 1000s instead of 1024s....annoying.)
Alienware TactX Keyboard
GE wheel mouse

My case is utterly mundane. It looks like a regular Dell case with a loosely attached front cover because that's exactly what it is. Let's look at the pretty keyboard instead! The pic's about a year old, but the keyboard (and monitor) are still the ones I have. Also, the little Halloween pumpkin decorations flanking the monitor are cute :-P

You have a case? I just remember always seeing parts strewn everywhere... :P

Well...the vertically-oriented drive rails are really weird, at least in my experience anyway. o_o

Friendly ribbing aside, you're all giving me a serious case of keyboard-envy.

I do have cases... usually just lacking side panels, but they new parts I have require better airflow than an open side, so I got some good fans and closed 'em up.

And man, I saw Midco just kicked up our internet speeds... Most pleased.

I've been hinted at that I need to update with my new machine specs...well, OK then. I'm going to be lazy and copy this out the invoice....I felt entitled to splurge since I made that last machine last for so many years (the replacement fan dying like the original fan, suggested problems existed), plus I had paid off a large loan and that freed up some funding.

  • Alienware Aurora X79 with ALX Chassis
  • Intel Core i7-3930K (Six Core, 12MB Cache) Overclocked up to 3.9Ghz
  • 16GB Quad Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz
  • 1GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 555
  • 256GB SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive
  • (the 2TB drive I had before, I migrated it between machines)
  • Single Drive: Dual Layer Blu-ray Reader (BD-ROM, DVD,RW, CD-RW)
  • Alienware TactX Keyboard (again, the one I had before)
  • Alienware TactX Mouse

Nice! :) I got a new mouse a week or two ago, picked up a Razer Naga, and I love it. :)

Alright. As I'm sure you are all aware, my PC committed suicide last month and it's taken me this long to build a new one...but I'm finally up and running again, have finally managed to convince Windows 7 that I really do own all of my stuff (thanks for the link Loki) and it only took me, what, five weeks?

So. My new specs:

Rosewill THOR case (AKA the Temple of Nod)
Corsair 750w PSU
ASUS Sabertooth Z77 motherboard
Intel quad-core i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50 GHz
8GB G-Skill Sniper DDR3 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+ w/ 512MB GDDR3
23" LG Flatron W2353 LCD monitor
1000GB Seagate HDD [C:]
500GB Seagate HDD [D:]
Samsung Writemaster 48x DVD-RW [E:]
HP dvd1270 24x DVD-RW [F:]
Logitech Marathon M705 cordless laser mouse

Need to get a new keyboard, and a new friggin' desk because this case barely fits under the one I have. Will probably also get a new video card and maybe a Blu-Ray drive or something down the road, when I can afford them. But anyway, I'm finally back.

Also, while I realize my new specs still don't measure up to Phiend's, I'm still going to post this because he never did. So in summary:

Forgot to mention the coolest part of this build: the motherboard.

Very nice! Glad you're up and running again. I just realized I never actually posted my new rig when I built it, so I shall do so now.

Antect LanBoy Air Case
1000w Powersupply(I forget the brand)
Intel Core i7-3930K Sandy Bridge-E 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) - 6 Core
32 GB G-Skill Quad Channel DDR3
AMD Radeon HD7950 Video card
24" Samsung 1920x1080 monitor
180 GB Intel Solid-State Drive
2x1 TB WD HDDs
1x1.5 TB WD HDD
LG BD-RW Drive
Razer Naga MMO 2012 Mouse
Logitech G510 Keyboard

I was able to bring a bunch of stuff over form my previous rig that took a dump on me, thankfully.

Yeah, so was I...namely my PSU, video card, one of my HDDs and DVD-RW drives and...well that's pretty much it.

Also, I guess you all pretty much make me (and He-Man) look like a chump. Bastards :P

Well, my PC inspires that kind of joy in me. I guess that means you can play some more modern games, though. ;)

Bah, you built yourself a very capable machine. Your video card is a bit out of date, but that's all really. Even so, that card can still handle most things reasonably well. I had a 9800 running for a good while. :)

I tend to go overboard when I build a new machine, as long as I can manage it financially. That way I don't feel the need to upgrade much(with the exception of video cards) for a good 5-6 years, minimum. Also... I'm a technology whore, lol.

Yeah, that's the first thing I was planning to update...though now I think I'm going to have to look for a new keyboard and desk before I do that. :?

Yeah, that was my intention here too, to try to build something that would last me a little while. Hopefully.

Still wish I knew why the other machine took a shit, but oh well, I guess it doesn't matter now.

EDIT: I also seem to have forgotten to make the most obvious and obligatory of jokes.

At least I can now say that my PC has a quad. :P

Didn't buy 'em off the black market, either.

Oh, you certainly have done that. That's a very, very nice processor. There is seriously no reason for me to have bought that 6 core one other than to say I have a 6 core chip, lol. The one you bought is faster and more power efficient, and that is not a bad thing.

I saw nVidia just released the Titan card... I want one so bad, but they start at like $1100, soooooo noway.

Also: the quad factor. :rbg:

Although...according to Device Manager, Windows seems to think I have an eight-core CPU. o_o The hell?
